Can you put a composite deck over top of a pressure treated porch floor.? I have used Rhino decking on two of my four outside entry ways. Our porch floor is made from pressure treated wood. Someone has painted it several years ago. I have scraped it over and over and it is not in a condition to repaint or stain.
Use a stiff brush or pressure washer to clean away the mold, dirt, grime, and graying. After cleaning a wood deck, the surface should be recoated with a protective deck stain. Use a pump sprayer to wet the surface and edges of the boards with the deck wash product but only as much as you can clean and rinse in 10-15 minutes -- it must not dry on the boards. Let it sit for a few minutes then pass over it with a Deck Brush, a short synthetic bristle brush that will work the chemical into the texture of the wood.

Then a day later, put on a slightly thicker coat as a primer, a mixture of 50% Cetol 1 and 50% Cetol DEK. A week later put on the wear layer, a coat of straight 100% Cetol DEK.
Once you’ve done this, you should spray your deck with either a dedicated deck cleaning product or a solution of warm water and soda crystals to get it really clean. By carrying out this thorough cleaning process, ideally at the start or end of each season, you’ll be helping to keep your deck safer when it rains.
This contact area should be limited only to the top of the joists, leaving most of the decking exposed on both sides. If placed on top of other decking, there will be little drying potential beneath the new decking and more rapid decay of both the new and old can be expected.
Choosing the Right Composite Decking Stain is the Key. The alkyd resins in solvent-based products will also serve as a food source for mold, mildew, and algae (what you're trying to eliminate). In order to deep clean your decking, you should ideally remove all furnishings and plant pots so you can brush the whole surface with a stiff broom to get rid of surface dirt. How to fix surface burns on your decking. Then rinse it and let it dry. A chisel and epoxy putty – If a burn has gone into the wood, beyond the surface, it’s time for serious action. Shave off the burned bit with a chisel, exercising great care, then seal the fresh wood you’ve exposed with a good sealer.
Don’t Place Your Fire Pit Directly on the Wooden Deck. You can protect your wooden deck from such damage, however, by placing something between it and your fire pit. A small grid of pavers should do the job. Simply arrange the pavers to cover the area of the deck where you’d like to use it, after which you can place the fire pit on top.
To remove mold from a deck, clean the surface with a deck cleaner containing sodium percarbonate or a mix of bleach and water. We are not fans of bleach on wood but sometimes this is best to help get rid of the mold. If you use bleach, mix at a ratio of 1 part bleach to 5 parts water.
