Installing Porch Installation Preparation Follow these guidelines for best porch installation: • Avoid storing AZEK Porch in areas of excessive heat • AZEK Porch Boards are one-sided products. The technology inside each board allows the flooring to be lightweight, but with a fiber-like structure inside, similar to wood, it has unmatched strength. The lightweight porch flooring is easy-to-handle on the job site and won't splinter, sag, chalk or crack unlike other porch flooring options.
Joist Splitting. Any time that deck boards need to extend beyond a joist (the upright pieces supporting the deck boards), the board has to be cut to share the top of the joist with the next piece in the row. When you are staggering joints across a deck, the joints must always meet up on top of a joist so that both pieces mount to the support.
Installation and Trimming. Place a deck board flat atop the joists and align one end with one edge of the deck as before. Align the inner edge with the chalk line to create the 1/4-inch gap between the boards. Where two boards are used for a row, align the innermost edges of each atop the center of a joist that's either side of the midpoint joist.
